After weeks of advance press and much fanfare Metaverse Fashion Week opened today in Decentraland. Featuring more than 70 brands vying for the attention of consumer-avatars, the event includes drops, fashion shows, exhibitions, panels and even a fashion film festival. The majority of the offerings take place in a newly-developed area in Decentraland called Fashion District. Virtual real estate company Metaverse Group purchased this 6,000-square-foot plot for a record $2.4M to develop a space to capture the rapidly-ascending digital fashion market.
Participating trad brands include Selfridges, Tommy Hilfiger, Estee Lauder, Dolce & Gabbana and more, while participating digital native brands include DRESSX, The Fabricant, Auroboros, DMAT and others. Metaverse Fashion Week is open to the public by visiting the Decentraland site and connecting an Ethereum wallet. The event concludes on 27 March 2022.
